Artist Bio:
When Alicia Glenn steps onto the stage and sits at her piano, you cant help but feel that youve been invited into a private concert with a close friend. And when she begins to play, even the rowdiest of the bar crowd quiet down and move in a little closer to take a listen. Ranging from strong and soulful to soothing and sentimental, Alicia's voice puts the audience under her spell. With her rhythmic piano playing and lyrics that are straight from the heart, youll feel like you've been there too.
After years of classical and operatic training, Alicia became one half of an electronica duo called nullStatic, singing Bjork, Radiohead and Portishead covers, as well as some creative original tunes. Following two years of performing and recording in Kingston ON, it was time for Alicia to branch out to a new venture of her own. Her debut solo performance was at the Queens Grad Club, opening for Martina Sorbara. The show was a hit, and Alicias solo career had officially begun. Alicias new material echoed the earlier influences of her life, such as Sarah McLachlan, Chantal Kreviazuk and Faith Evans, and even included touches of old Motown singers of the past.
Since then, Alicia has performed at other venues in Kingston, including opening for Madviolet at The Grad Club, and has recently moved back to her home in Toronto, where she performs regularly at venues such as The Free Times Caf, The Smiling Buddha, The Cameron House, Clintons, Holy Joes and others. Her 2004 Demo Release showcases a sample of what Alicia has in store, and she is excited to be back in the studio, working on a full-length album which she hopes to release in the New Year.

Red sky falls, and I drive to see you.
My lips are craving your kisses.
My body wants to feel your fire.
Night falls quickly,
I can't seem to drive fast enough.
You say you miss the way I sing to you.
I didn't even know you noticed.
I miss the way you wrap your arms
Around me as I fall asleep.
I miss the way you touch your hair and smile.
I miss your hands against my face.
Now every passing tree or light
Evokes some memory of you,
And only you.
I wanna sit with you by candlelight,
And feed you strawberries and wine.
I wanna hear you laugh,
I wanna watch you sleep,
I want to smell your skin,
And kiss you in the moonlight.
Red sky fades, and I'm no longer driving.
I wait in front of your apartment.
My heart is pounding fast.
I see your face at last.
Oh, how I love your smile.
And now I'll sing to you.
I feel your warm embrace,
Now finally I see your face.
And under this red sky,
I'll sing to you.
Oh how I've longed for this.
Now finally I'll taste your kiss.
And under this red sky,
I'll sing to you. |

I sing for my spirit,
I sing for my soul.
If you listen hard enough,
You'll surely hear it.
All the echoes and sounds
Of our lives, and you know,
Sometimes it gets real hard.
So when you feel low (so low),
Oh, when you see clouds ahead,
Just stand up real tall,
And listen to the words
That your mother said.
"Don't cry. There's a giant
Inside that little body.
Dry your eyes,
And feel all the good
That God instilled in you.
Most of all,
Don't be ashamed.
'Cause someone'll be
Looking up to you
Someday. |
