Artist Bio:
Dan Tindall is a singer, songwriter and musician from Northern Ireland. He writes and plays modern acoustic folk, country and blues based tunes, drawing on his love of artists from many eras. Amongst his notable achievements is managing to accumulate what one observer described as 'far too many musical instruments', although in reality this is no more than a variety of guitars, a mandolin, and a few percussive items. And, as he will quite readily point out, they all get plenty of suitable use!
He produces all his own material, and is a strong advocate of the independent do-it-yourself attitude to music.

Sitting doing nothing
Drink a cup of coffee
Staring into distance
Like a long dead dream
A man without ambition
His heartache in remission
Needing nobody's permission
To think about death
King of all he sees
He's got bruises on his knees
And is sat upon the floor
Beside an open door
That does not lead anywhere anymore
What would you do if it was you?
And your stone cold soul that you cling to
Has now left you all alone to burn in hell
The light, the air, the sun
Oh well, all of them are gone
What would you do if it was you?
Stay lost in contemplation
A servant to the nation
Empty, corrupt
And guilty pending charge
Unswerving and dogmatic
With a intellect quite static
Forward into battle
Leading from behind
A liar and a cheat
With a CV that's complete
With all the broken feet
Of each messanger left dead
He knows where to sit
And it's mostly on your face
What would you do if it was you?
And your stone cold soul that you cling to
Has now left you all alone to burn in hell
The light, the air, the sun
Oh well, all of them are gone
What would you do if it was you? |

You can start a war that you might win
Convinced the other side might just give in
But you can start a war that you might lose
Sadly it goes either way and you don't get to choose
Still, march them out like heroes
Played out with a band
Target practice for the world
Boys with guns in holes dug in the sand
Technology is useless if you fight
Ghosts, against your military might
And once you give a name to all your fears
The beast is in the open with its hand upon the gears
Still, march them out like heroes
Played out with a band
Target practice for the world
Boys and girls in holes dug in the sand
Bombarded on all sides by T-divisions
And smiling lying stupid politicians
War can be the engine of your state
Or it can be the end of everything that you have made
March them out like heroes
Play them out with a band
Target practice for the world
Boys and girls in holes dug in the sand
So I hope that you can sleep okay at night
Whilst the sons of working men go out to fight
And daughters true and brave will soon be lost
I hope you are ashamed to truly calculate the cost
But march them out like heroes
Play them out with a band
Target practice for the world
Boys and girls with guns stuck in the sand |

You're the mediocre master of some of what you see
And the bigger you fall, well generally the harder you come
Your backbone went on holiday, left you sitting back at home
Your self-respect is now ashamed to know you
And sooner or later, well it won't be long
The guy in the loin-cloth bangs the gong
You're just a dead guy who's hanging around
Until somebody takes him home
This endless aimless chatter is the sum of you
And now you've had your fun, you'll be on your way
Back to square one where you like to play
A melody you wrote for someone else I'm sure
And sooner or later, well it won't be long
The guy in the loin-cloth bangs the gong
You're just a dead guy who's hanging around
Until somebody takes you home
Last night I heard you sing the nineties in a bar
And I was most distressed at what I was forced to hear
I held my whisky chaser until the coast was clear
And then I ran home to seek refuge in the dark
And sooner or later, well it won't be long
The man in the loin-cloth bangs the gong
You're just a dead guy who's hanging around
Until somebody takes him home |
