AMERICA NORTH: Canada: Ontario

NOW and THE-N
 Members:  Alex Stangl, Michael Bell
Booking and Artist Contact

Artist Bio:

In January of 2004, Alex Stangl received an email from a girl that was organizing an Adam Scott CVI high school reunion. She asked if it might be possible for Strobic Axe to reunite for the reunion and play a few songs. After a bit of back and forth between the band members, it was obvious it just wasn't going to happen.

After talking with Strobic Axe lead singer Michael Bell, they both decided it might be cool to get together and record some of the old songs from years ago that didn't make it on the Strobic Axe album Hor Einmal Zu! So for several Sundays, in the dead of a Canadian winter, they got together and recorded 11 songs.

Michael came up with the band name N.O.W. & THE-N. , a combination of his and Alex's seperate band names, NumberOneWorld and The Nation.

12:34 (1980)

Well Ive had enough of this
Every night at 12:34
Its affecting my style and dress
A caffeine diet I can take no more
The ways of your thinking blow my mind
The way you keep it to the grind
To think that youve started a new religious trend
I guess that signifies a predictable end

Ive got to catch a plane, at 12:34
I want to try again, at 12:34
I have to get ahead, at 12:34
A youth was found dead, at 12:34

I had to listen close
To understand what the man had to say
Dont let go of your dreams
The ones that shake you in your bed
Things that I have not revealed to you
Another Max of 28, thats navy blue
Time and time they laughed and criticized
Resorting now to beautify with colour dyes

Drive On (1980)

Cmon Willie, now dont be silly
You know it wasn't Spiderman
Wish I could tell you, but I'm no insider
I just own a lot of land
My hands are shot from the harvest crop
My life is in the can
But having one is better than having none
So drive on with the band

Youve got to drive on

Economy it isn't for me
And I see it isn't for you
You have no say since yesterday
So either way youre screwed
Would it be nice to do it twice?
And no one bat an eye
Announce your life is quite all right
One KGB spy

Ricky (1980)

Struggling further on
My eyes still crystal clear
When all is said and done
With innocence so near
Income's steady now
Sales are climbing too
Life was once so simple
Wish I were in my shoes
Screaming in my drums
My nerves blood red
Tarred and feathered
At the side of my bed
So this is what its like
To be locked in
Jump from a window
Protesting within

Lets go for a walk through the park
Cant remember where the hell we parked

Breathed a lot of false words, seen leg-less people walk
Took it to the Supreme Court, said I was just all talk
Couldnt believe me sir, Ricky's what I said
He's just so damn depressing, no brains inside his head
Ghostly cadavers, laid out in line
No explanation, just pay up the fine
The cries so loud, just political noise
Somebody save our intelligence boys

Tonight On The Dock (1981)

Tonight on the dock
I was the only thing between the earth and the stars
Hands on heavy balloons dont you float away
Every time there are new onesthink theyre rising
Must the wondering go on all the time?

Wasted tape, wasted timewhos the brain behind the birds?
Maybe they should gather and fly
Jimi you should have stayedpaid your money
Made the exit
Write the folks, say Im O.K.

Need a nightlight, need a tedI can make my own bed
I just need security
The worlds my roof
Looking down I know Ill fall forever
A small history is all Ill leave
