Gustav Bertha is a Scottish dissident resident in Switzerland.
He learned to play piano at an early age but kept evoking the wrath of his music teachers by meandering off into self compositions of a pseudo classical nature. Such indiscipline even caused one or two to refuse blankly to teach the young angelic Gustav any more.
Puberty came, angelic became demonic, Gustav wanted to join a rock band. And indeed he did. Composing quirky songs and playing keyboards for a chemically fuelled outfit from the backwaters of Fife. Much fun was had, the best bits Gustav swears he can't remember.
Gustav went off to travel the world, following in the footsteps of the revolutionary Che Guevara. He didn't get far. He was lost for years in who knows where owing to inferior map reading skills and a tendency to follow tangents to disasterous conclusions.
He eventually emerged years later from a London Underground tunnel looking dazed, confused, awestruck, incensed. A plane to Switzerland was called for. Gustav needed a skiing holiday.
Six CDs later, still learning.
Meanwhile Gustav has decided he wants to be a late night bar pianist serenading alcoholics in the wee small hours with darkly-tinged humorous tales of death, love and the downfall of civilisation.
