Heart of the Night Show
The TransAtlantic Acoustic Show brings you Folk, Blues, Alt Country, Bluegrass, and even a classically structured guitar or piano tune once in a while. Whatever the genre, it is always acoustic.

Hosts Sam Salter (UK) and jill no jack (US) try to keep the silliness to a minimum, but they freely admit it is a goal at which they sometimes fail. They feel extraordinarily contrite about this but have no plans at this time to change their ways.
The Heart of the Night Show features Rock, Pop, Contemporary Folk, and music from other genres when it fits with the show. If it's great music, Jill is likely to drop it in!

Host jill no jack claims she is always in a "midnight frame of mind". Not really being able to decipher what that means, we have decided she probably means that she is really, really tired. Despite that, she always does her best to play great Indie tunes.

Playlists and Show Notes for Current Shows

TransAtlantic Acoustic Show for Sunday, May 31st
POSTED BY: jillnojack 31 May 2009 09:47 PM

I think Sam and I spent way too much time demonstrating what big geeks we are this week (like you didn't already know that) what with our digressions into the area of Star Trek and scifi dentistry, but we also managed to fit in the usual number of fabulous acoustic songs. Amazing how we always actually manage that despite our tendency to veer way off of the musical course :-)

This week's playlist:

Will Derryberry - Seven -- Get it on iTunes

Kesang Marstrand - Real Boy -- Get it on iTunes

Ross Crean - Upside Down -- This song is not available on CD yet, but you should buy all of Ross's previous CDs on iTunes. Because he's fab and I adore his music. So, go do that now. If you don't feel like it, you can always go to CDBaby instead :-)

Christopher Martin Hansen - 80 Days -- MP3s available on SongPlanet

Lori Diamond - Mystery -- Get it on iTunes

Tom Bolton - Little Star -- iTunes purchase link -- CDBaby purchase link.

That's it! Thanks once again for listening! And make sure to check out the new Eclectic Acoustic Internet Radio stream by clicking on the Radio link on the menu up there. Once you're on the page, I'm sure you can sort it all out to get the radio actually playing.

The James Clark Institute - Kangaroo

Ross Crean - Hollow (Give It Back)

The Teddy Boys - Baby, You're The Best

Sam and I talk at length in this week's show about how, having finally met each other in person, neither of us can stand the other. Heavens, I knew that trip to England was going to be a bad idea for so many reasons!

However, in the interest of the music, we have decided to grit our teeth and get on with it. This allows me to continue to bring you:

This show's playlist:

Don Bodin - Campfire Companion -- from the CD "The Radioactive Werewolf and other tales from the Southwest", available from CDBaby.com and iTunes

Andrew and Noah VanNorstrand - None So Lovely -- from the CD A Certain Tree (CDBaby) and on iTunes

Plunkett - Folk Songs Song -- CD "Folk Songs" available from CDBaby.com and on iTunes

Dan Tindall - I'm Not Afraid -- Find out how to get any of Dan's many brilliant CDs at dantindall.com, as well as grab up some nice freebies!

Carly And Mark - Brilliant Blue -- Get the brand new CD "New City Morning" direct from the band by using the PayPal link on the Carly and Mark CD page at IndieHeart.

Ray Woodruff - Ray Woodruff - Wait Out The Rain -- Check out all of Ray's music offerings at raywoodruffmusic.com!

That's it for this time. Sam and I will try to get together again for another show at some unspecified date in the future. Although, as I am sure you could all tell from this show, we have completely ceased to amuse each other. (This is really quite sad when you think about it, since Sam and I have ever only amused each other in the first place! )

Until next time,

Jill

P.S - Just in case anyone doesn't know that I am prone to be a bit tongue in cheek in these posts - Sam is absolutely one of the most fun and interesting people I have ever had the opportunity to meet. A complete and total doll, our Sam. I had the time of my life in England!

P.P.S - I only said all the nice stuff in the P.S. because Sam is such a big girl's blouse and would blubber all over the place if anyone said anything bad about him.

The last show of the year features a swell bunch of brand new bands to the site! We also have a visit from old friends, Catapult, who brought us a new song a bit ago.

I hope you all had a great holiday, if you holiday, doing whatever it is you do or don't celebrate. I did a show :-)

The playlist:

Tom Stephen And The Retreat - The Nest

Serial Obsession - Grey -- Sexy But Useless CD on iTunes

David Ullman - Secondhand Dog Days CD on iTunes -- CD from CDBaby.com

Plunkett - Flies -- Folk Songs CD from CDBaby.com

Overload Romance - Nature Love

Catapult - Dirty

I hope you enjoyed the show! If you got a new MP3 player this holiday season, you might want to check out a free trial from eMusic, which is a terrific service (see that big flashing ad-thing below - follow that - you'll get there.) You get 25 free songs from terrific Independent artists, including folks you have heard on the HOTN show like Melissa Mcclelland, the Offcutts, etc. I am a member of eMusic off and on, and they have terrific customer service with no hidden catch on the free trial thing. It's a great deal for you, and helps out IndieHeart a bit, too, through the affiliate program. So...if you do, I really appreciate it!

It was really difficult for such a proper gal as myself to suffer through the adult-oriented language of this show, but I managed it to make sure you got some great music again this time. I'm sure that someday I will lose my head during one of the "explicit language" specials and cut loose with a string of profanity that would make a monkey blush. But good golly, until that time comes, I'll let those naughty musicians do it for you.

The playlist:

The Antiques - Pigless -- The Antiques on iTunes

Droll - Crude Affection

Freeflow - Girlfriend - Freeflow CD from Beatstreet.ca

Dan Tindall - How Did It Come To This? -- Inside Outside CD from CDbaby.com -- Dan Tindall on iTunes

The Sway - The Death of Venus

The Shutters - All Told

Thanks again for listening. I promise to mind my potty mouth next time!

Is everyone enjoying the summer as much as I wish I was? You see, while you were out enjoying a fabulous summer night with your interesting and exotic friends, I was stuck in a room with no air conditioning cutting up little bits of audio. Not that I'm whining, mind you. Really.

This week's playlist:

Cold Taxi - Old School Radio

The Teddy Boys - Not There

Jimi Pocius - Day After Day

Braintoy - Theft Prevention -- Vehicles CD at iTunes

crashtv - Swim -- Sound Put CD from CDBaby.com -- CD or single songs from iTunes

Plan A - Fallen -- The Earth Dilemma MP3 CD from Amazon.com -- CD from iTunes

That's it for this week's show! I am hard at work re-inventing IndieHeart once again, which is why the shows seem to take longer and longer to get out. The problem with the entire reinvention thing is that it always seems to take me about a year to get all the work done to recode the site and set up all of the things that need to happen when the site changes. Hopefully, it will be worth the effort with new ways for you to find music effortlessly!

Astute listeners to the show this week will have sussed that Sam was unavailable for the show this time. We ask that Sam's many fans not panic and/or send us lots of hate mail. Sam *will* return as the show continues. However, unfortunately for the show (but fortunately for Sam), his life is so full of so many interesting things to do that he will only have the time to pick up the co-hosting reins on an intermittent basis.

Never fear though, the TransAtlantic Acoustic show remains transatlantic thanks to the delightful and loquacious musician/producer Peter Dahl Collins of the British Industrial Pop band, crashtv. Many, many thanks to Peter for agreeing to step in and accompany me on our worldwide acoustic journey tthis week!

This week's playlist:

Lizzie Nunnery - Pubs That Never Close -- Hungry Ep at CDBaby.com -- Hungry from iTunes

The James Clark Institute - Monstrous -- Sideshow Unattraction CD from CDBaby.com -- from iTunes

Paul Liddell - Brighter Lights -- New Thing Coming EP from iTunes

Blind Willies - Sinner's Medley -- Purchase the Everybody's Looking for a Meal CD direct from the band using PayPal on their CD store page or from iTunes

Moby.MK.II - Elegy

Alex Stangl - Make A Cup of Tea -- Purchase Alex's 150+ song MP3 CD, The Sherbrooke Sessions. You definitely can't beat the price at $20!

That's it for this week's playlist. And...it won't be four months before the next new show! Really.

P.S. I recently wrote a "how to" article for Google's new Knol pages to help people get started listening to podcasts. If you have a friend who looks at you like a deer in the headlights when you explain what a podcast is, it just might help them out. Tale a gander at Podcasts: Time-Shifted Radio if the fancy strikes you.
