Artist: Tugboat Country
The story of Tugboat Country begins with three childhood friends who grew up in a small, dry town outside our Nation's Capitol. Founder of Tugboat Country, Ben Guernsey, grew up in a musical family. His father Tom was the founder and principal songwriter for the Hangmen, a legendary sixties Washington, DC garage rock band. After several years of scattering about the states, the guys met up again in the coastal town of Seattle and formed Tugboat Country in 2003.

The debut CD, released in June 2005, was recorded at Egg Studios with Conrad Uno at the controls combining elements of folk, punk, country, and good old rock n roll. But this ain't no twang or alt. country band - just firmly grounded in the American tradition of songwriters from Bob Dylan and CCR to Steve Earle and the Pixies. The music carries a timeless charm that can easily span across decades and generations. Vocals are edgy and raw, yet softened by lifting and soaring harmonies. In the songs you might hear a combination of folk, garage, early punk, country and rock & roll. Tugboat Country is a 4-piece band utilizing a lively mix electirc and acoustic guitars, bass and drums, along with sweet overlays of melodies from harmonica, accordion and mandolin.
