Artist: CARLY AND MARK
Carly and Mark are an exhilaratingly fresh and edgy acoustic folk-pop group from Toronto/Waterloo Ontario. Starting out as a duo, childhood friends Carly Blasutti (vocals) and Mark Hart (fingerstyle guitar/vocals), hit the ground running with their indie debut, 'Carly and Mark' in 2005. Describes as "sheer acoustic beauty" by indieheart.com, the disc earned Carly and Mark 3 Toronto Independent Music Award nominations including Best Song ("Dreamin' Of"), Best Female Fronted Group, and Best Live Acoustic Group!
Now performing as a quartet with acoustic bassist Bret Higgins (Beyond the Pale, the Great Lake Swimmers) and drummer Joshua Van Tassel (David Myles, The Outlanders), Carly and Mark just released 'New City Morning', a stunning album featuring the full band. The lead track 'Morning Light Praying' has already been named best folk song of 2008 by Toronto Exclusive Magazine, included in the Toronto Star's coveted 'Anti-Hit List'. and featured as a top 5 selection by Songwriter Universe Magazine. Blending folk, jazz, pop, and blues, the band creates a sonic tapestry featuring Carly's striking vocals and Marks consummate fingerstyle guitar, underscored throughout by lyrics that are at once poignant and light.

“It's tempting to compare the dynamic between singer Carly Blasutti and guitarist Mark Hart to that of folk-jazz duo Tuck and Patti, though perhaps with less overt virtuosity (and we mean that in a good way). This wistful leadoff track [Morning Light Praying] to their sophomore album perfectly captures the stillness of those rare moments of reflection when, for a few fleeting minutes, life seems both easy and crystal clear.â€
-John Sakamoto, The Anti-Hit List, Toronto Star

"... an acoustic mix of inspirational creativity that will tickle your senses ... Speechless"
Target Audience Magazine

"There are songs of sweetness and light for the head and heart, but there also songs of grit and groove that make those little hairs on the back of your neck stand up and scream, “give me more of that.â€

Morning Light Praying
Written by: Carly Blasutti

Momma swaying
To a quiet song playing
This is morning light praying
And it feels alright

It's tall grass dancing in the breeze
When two become many and you're living a dream
Forever is a long time
But it feels alright

And you can bring
To all these things
A little bit of light
With that twinkle in your eye

It's a new city morning
And the whistle's blowing
And it's moving all around you
But you'll be just fine

And you get up early to meet the sun
'Cause you ain't gonna miss a thing to come
Later I'll chase you down
And we'll make some time

And you can bring
To all these things
A little bit of light
Just being by my side

With the radio saying
It'll soon be raining
You can come on in baby it's warm inside
I should have know better you wouldn't listen to me
But I hold you tightly and fix your knee
Spin you 'round and sit you down
Hey your just fine

And you can bring
To all these things
A little bit of light
Just being by my side

"Dreamin' Of"
(Mark Hart and Carly Blasutti)

You go into my secret place
and read the words i wrote today
you get these ideas inside your brain
and while I can't say the rest out loud......

You know i love you.........
and i'm livin' for you..
sometimes i just don't like you at all
i don't know ..... and here we go

Pull open the window shade
because today is a brand new day
these kinds of things are so hard to say ........
well i'm sorry i said those things about your mother

You know i love you.........
and i'm livin' for you..
sometimes i just don't like you at all
i don't know and here we go

Now we've said all we have to say
all of our problems just melt away
i got this feelin' we'll be okay
at least until the next time

Oooh yeah i've been dreamin' of
the day when you and me can simply wander off
just pack our bags get in the car and go
how about Mexico?

"Melt You"
(Mark Hart and Carly Blasutti)

Light creeps in as we begin
Settin' out to take it all in
(Breathin' just for you)
Waitin' for the moment when
It creeps out and were creepin' in again
(seein' only you)
Show me how to melt
Show me how to melt ..... you
