Artist: Megan Paige
Megan Paige is a girl on a mission. She's determined to prove that the female powerhouse voice isn’t just for divas, and aggressive music and lyrics don't require gothic dresses and a lot of black make-up. Instead the girl next door is kicking in our doors and telling us like it is.

A singer/songwriter since childhood, Megan Paige began her public vocal performances in 2004 with the Boston acappella group The Downbeats. This granted her the opportunity to fine tune her ear and stage performance, before she moved back to her home in New Jersey in 2007 to get down to business and record her original compositions.

With her heart set on getting the right sound and style for her demo, Megan chose to be produced at the notoriously alternative rock shop, Moonskull Studios in Paramus, NJ. What do you get when you mix the clever mind of a female alternative pop singer with "out of the box" rock production? You get a demo that rivals Fiona Apple in eeriness, threatens Amy Lee's (Evanescence) big dark melodies, and sits next to Amy Winehouse as lyrically potent and refreshingly original.

Her self-titled demo is available now at myspace/meganpaigemusic. Refer to this site for photos, show listings and updates.

I can tell there’s something wrong by the look in your
I can’t seem to find a way to make you talk
You don’t seem to know who’s running your mind
You don’t know how week you are I’ve come to find

Say you’ve grown, say you’ve known for a long time
That thing’s have been changing in me
Well, no you didn’t, no you don’t and no you won’t
Ever know what’s really goin down in me

I’m a secret, I’m a secret
No one will ever know me
I’ve got secrets, I’ve got secrets
No one will ever see

You can tell there’s something wrong by the look in my
Eyes turned cold without a hand to hold
I’m afraid I’ve gone mad and I can’t go back
Well, I’m afraid we’ve both fallen off the track

Say you’ve grown, say you’ve known for a long time
That thing’s have been changing in me
Well, no you didn’t, no you don’t and no you won’t
Ever know what’s really goin down in me

I’m a secret, I’m a secret
No one will ever know me
I’ve got secrets, I’ve got secrets
No one will ever see

I’ve been trying
Too hard to get through to you
I’ve been lied
Too many times to trust you
I’ve been lied
Too many times to trust you
I’ve been lied
Too many times to come through

Oh say you’ve known
And say you’ve grown
No you didn’t
No, no, no
Oh, Oh, I’m a secret
I’m a secret

I don’t like playing by the rules
I like to make things up as I go
That’s just the way I’ve always been
I don’t mind getting into trouble
I can get us out of it anyway
That’s just the way it’s always been

I know I tend to make some people nervous
But they don’t know a thing about being free

Drive down the wrong side for a little bit
Don’t be scared of it
You can always swerve if someone gets in your way
I like to think this life is a holding pen
Something greater’s coming but till then
Why not keep them guessing while we’re still waiting

I’ve never been very reliable
I’m late to everywhere I go
That’s just a part of who I am
I seem to get bored very easily
Only once has love ever found me
That’s my favorite part of who I am

I know I frustrate people around me
But I know the ones that stay are quality

Drive down the wrong side for a little bit
Don’t be scared of it
You can always swerve if someone gets in your way
I like to think this life is a holding pen
Something greater’s coming but till then
Why not keep them guessing while we’re still waiting

You may think I need maturing
But I think a child’s spirit is very alluring
You may think I like confusion
But each part of me
Is dying to see
Simplicity

Drive down the wrong side for a little bit
Don’t be scared of it
You can always swerve if someone gets in your way
I like to think this life is a holding pen
Something greater’s coming but till then
Why not keep them guessing while we’re still waiting

Without you I’d be just fine
What’s me could finally all be mine
Without you I could finally breathe
Stop defending everything I believe

You think you know, which way I’ll grow
And I’m not up with that
While you don’t know, which way to go
See I’m not up with that
You think you know, which way I’ll grow
And I’m not up with that
Well I won’t go, be part of your show
No I’m not up with that

Do you think if I’m just like you
It justifies everything you do?
Well I got tired of you thinking I’m your mirror
So I took 9 years bad luck to make everything clearer

You think you know, which way I’ll grow
And I’m not up with that
While you don’t know, which way to go
See I’m not up with that
You think you know, which way I’ll grow
And I’m not up with that
Well I won’t go, be part of your show
No I’m not up with that

Time does not rewind
And you can’t have mine
I’m not your past that you can fix at last
Why, don’t you
Finally fix you?
Stop trying to hide behind the problems in my life

You think you know, which way I’ll grow
And I’m not up with that
While you don’t know, which way to go
See I’m not up with that
You think you know, which way I’ll grow
And I’m not up with that
Well I won’t go, be part of your show
No I’m not up with that

I’m not up with that
I’m not up with that
I’m not up with that

Do you ever think that maybe something’s not right here?
Do you ever pray that you would wake and it would disappear?
Do you ever think that maybe something’s not right here?
And you can’t sleep ‘cause you can’t make it all disappear

‘Cause I can see it in your eyes
And you can’t deny it
And while everyone pretends it’ll be ok
I’m supposed to hide it
Well I know I can’t change
What’s about to happen
But I can’t fake it when I don’t believe in this happy ever after

I can’t lie
I can’t lie
Holding back may be more dignified
But I can’t hold the wait of all these lies
Can’t lie

Oo, oh
You ever think that maybe something’s not right here?
You ever think that you could run and we would still be here?

‘Cause you can see it in our eyes
That’s why you don’t ask
And it’s more than a couple of pairs of cold feet
You’re trying to mask
You can say you don’t care about the frills and the ribbons
But I’m not the only one confused by your indecision

I can’t lie
I can’t lie
Holding back may be more dignified
But I can’t hold the wait of all these lies
Can’t lie

Who decided closed mouths were right?
And is the blood on your tongue worth the bite?
And if we’re playing by golden rules
Where does it say we’re meant to be played as fools

No I can’t lie
I can’t lie
Holding back may be more dignified
But I can’t hold the wait of all these lies
Can’t lie

Holding back may be more dignified
But I can’t hold the weight of all these lies
Can’t lie
Holding back may be more dignified
But I can’t hold the weight of all these lies
Can’t lie
Holding back may be more dignified
But I can’t hold the weight of all these lies
Can’t lie
