Peter Webster - Genre: Folk

My music is influenced by sixties pop and rock, seventies new-wave, British and American folk and new country. Amongst my favourite bands I would count the Beatles, the Who and the Jam, whilst my favourite folk singer is Nic Jones. Amongst more modern artists, I'd point to the Wailin' Jennys as a band that I really admire. I write my own material, sing and play guitar and harmonica. If there are two words that I would apply to my songs, they are "inventive" and "accessible". I have recently finished my new album, Footprint. I'd like to think that my music appeals to a wide range of ages and tastes. I have a band (drums, bass, electric guitar, backing vocalist etc.), but am also available in a variety of acoustic flavours (just me, my guitar and harmonica, or me plus two or three...

Ade Payne - Genre: Folk

Exceptional Acoustic Folk Rock from a slightly batty but altogether brilliant musician.

For Ade it all started at the age of 12 when listening to bands such as Neil Young, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Aerosmith, 10cc, Eagles, McCartney, Genesis, Rush, Led Zep and Skynrd to name just a few - Ade was inspired.

Ade was 15 when he finally got his first guitar. Having never been the most patient of people the idea of sitting through lesson after lesson learning tunes that didn’t speak to his soul didn’t appeal to say the very least. He wanted to be a guitarist now, immediately!

So, teaching himself three basic chords he started writing songs. Ade wanted to play the songs of his favourite bands, but every time he picked up his guitar to do just that, he found himself writing

...

Meagin Donovan - Genre: Folk

My number one goal with my music is to inspire people," states Seattle-based singer/songwriter Meagin Donovan, who is fresh out of the studio with her self-released debut album, No Second Self. "While recording this album, everything came from within; I found inspiration in life experiences, relationships, day-to-day emotions, and, of course, other artists' music and stories. "I'm a self-taught musician and wrote all of the music and arrangements for the album," says Donovan.

Meticulously written and recorded, every note was given much attention; the evidence is in the details. With Meagin on keys and guitar, Wayne Porter on percussion and Jerry Brown on bass, No Second Self is tight and funky, with energetic rhythmic nuances that Meagin refers to as "freestyle rhythm guitar."

...

"I grew up in the Northeast in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. I credit my childhood interest in music and in songwriting to my father's varied collection of 8 track tapes which was somewhat of a treasure trove for me. I would spend hours on end listening and absorbing while my younger sister and I played in the living room each afternoon after school. I consider the 70's to be somewhat of a renaissance period for songwriter music and my father's collection reflected that very interesting cross section of storytellers (Jim Croce, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, Paul Simon, Lennon & McCartney) and what is more commonly thought of as soul music but which featured some incredible writing (Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye).
With roots in Belfast and flavoured in London and Rome, the songs are ambitious and direct, whether you hear them live @ 10,000db or on record. The music takes you back to a time when songwriting was king and Rock & Roll meant something.

The first word I can ever remember saying was “music”. I was about a year and a half old then and that’s the way it was for the next 20 plus years of my life. Music was first and foremost on my mind.

Today, music is still HUGE in my life. But life, as I knew it, has changed. I now have a family that is my first priority with music a very close second. I have always felt that there is something “big” in my future. Something that not everyone gets to experience in their lifetime. It’s hard to explain, but it’s just always been there for me. I’m a dreamer. I believe in the impossible. And I am not afraid of a challenge.

Writing songs is usually a fun and relatively easy process for me. It is also a process that I take very seriously. All of the bands

...
